News - "...there's no place like home....there's no place like home...there's no place like home..." staycation seems to be the new word on the block for this week's show. In fact this "vacation time during high gas prices and a world class recession" neololism, has become so popular among arizonans that the AZ State Tourism website has become a favorite among cost conscious web surfing staycationers from our very own Grand Canyon State. One Here we hear the first part of a 2 part discussion of just what we have been doing during this summer break. It's really good to be back! We talk about the 4th of July ...and the weather, the usual. Two Tyrus confesses to his mostly staycation activities up here in the north country... Sedona...Blue Ridge Resrevoir... ...Winslow (Desert Sun Motel [$45.00]and the Casa Blanca Restaurant)...and the best highway side ruins on I-40; 2 Guns... Three Joni finishes up the story on Noodles, the sparrow who came to stay with her just before we went on summer break. Four Although Randy Wilson was not with us to host the AZDailySun segment for you, we caught him out at a running event, 4k on the 4th, which Randy was a part of getting off the blocks this past 4th. Tyrus and Joni decide to participate in the race next year... for a cause. Five Joni confesses that she had a Tai Chi class with Jayne Lee a few years ago ~ and Tyrus comments on the upcoming Human Nature Dance Theatre performance: July 10-11, 7:30pm ($12/advance $15/door) :... Small Moments of Sky, Clayman Being, & Baggage Claim. Six Tyrus discusses the Saturday, July 11 Evening Slide Presentation: Two Guns and Route 66, Riordan Mansion State Historic Park. Presented by Sean Evans, Librarian, NAU Cline Library. 7:00 p.m.; free. Reservations recommended. 928-779-4395. Seven Tyrus asks Joni what Mitzy plans to do for her trip back home to North Dakota. Joni tells us that Mitzy will be doing a lot of family things...like...raise a barn...Eight Adieu ~ we thank our underwriters for this week; The Weatherford Hotel, North Country Health Care, Aquaplex, Flagstaff EyeCare, and the Pioneer Museum.

Brian Grube - Takes us out to the Codgill Recreation Center. There have been about $50,000 worth of improvements made out there this past year. The place is looking pretty smart!

Kimberly Ott - Kimberly is back from her break as well, but, she tells us, many of the council members are now taking theirs, just in time to be at home for the real summer heat. Kimberly reminds us to remember care with water ~ water conservation is always a mind set we ought embrace. She also gives us a couple kids ideas.

AZDailySun - Editor Randy Wilson hosts is on staycation this week, so Laura Clymer, City Editor, hosts this weeks AZ Daily Sun presentation. Reporter Betsy Bruner tells us about the upcoming 12th Annual Arizona Highland Celtic Festival. Reporter Larry Hendricks makes sure we remember The Wall That Heals exhibit is in town... and Laura brings us up to speed on all this "to Monsoon, or not to Monsoon..." question that keeps people trying hard not to really disagree with the hodgepodge of monsoonish meteorooglical posit on this most significant idea.

James Frazier - "Historic Flagstaff Arizona" These are done for FLAGNEWS by a really first tier commercial artist and compositor ~ James Frazier. So ... if anyone out there is looking to support local artists... TV commercials, anyone?... .you may want to consider James. He provides these vignettes as a gesture of community service. We encourage you to check out his portfolio!

Jayne Lee - and her fellow dance collaborators for the upcoming Human Nature Dance Theatre presentation at the Coconino Center for the Arts on the 10th and 11th of this month. It looks like ti should be quite fascinating.

David Grandon - who wasn't with us last week due to our summer special schedule, has an interesting and insightfull presentation on a vigilante artist who is breaking laws with some quite artistic wheat paste poster put-ups here in FLAG and around Northern Arizona. It kind of bends the ideas we typically associate with graffiti (unwanted art). This work is really striking. Thanks David.

Tony Norris - This week Tony offers helps us out with the weather blues with a laugh or two. If this overdue summertime heat has you meltuing between your garden walk bricks, you may just find a little relief in Tony's comfort.

Mitzy Bellini - Just got back from Alaska where she heard there would soon be a position available in State government. Mitzy as, usual, has all the tips on the haps in and around our little town by the big mountain. You can always e-mail activities you would like mentioned at mitzybellini@gmail.com
